This post follows the theme of our last one; easy chicken recipes. You can probably tell that we’re a fan of easy to make, yet flavorful and delicious dishes! Why complicate, when you can simplify and get the same results? You’ll ask yourself the very same question after trying these bbq wings. They are just as good, if not better, than wings you’d get from the big box, popular chain restaurants. They make an excellent dish for entertaining (and impressing) guests, or just for yourself (because there’s nothing better than treating yourself to good home cooking).
If you have your favorite barbecue sauce, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and vegetable or canola oil, you can make a batch of very flavorful wings. If you’re interested in taking your wings to the next level (and who wouldn’t be??), add some Jamaican jerk sauce or habanero sauce and ginger powder. Thank us later. Check out the recipe below.
Ingredients
- 4 lb bag of frozen chicken wings (we usually get the bag of wings that are individually frozen)
- 21 oz (or about 3/4 of a standard 28 oz bottle) of your favorite barbecue sauce
- 3 tablespoons of Jamaican jerk sauce (or you can use a bottled habanero sauce)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable or canola oil

The sauce really is the boss!
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl, combine the sauces, spices, and oil. Mix it all together until smooth.

Combination of bbq and jerk sauce, spices, and oil.
- Place the frozen wings into the sauce, making sure that each wing is fully coated with the sauce.
- Pour the saucy, frozen wings into a large baking dish. If there is any leftover sauce in the bowl, be sure to scrape it all out and into the baking dish.
- Cover the wings with foil and place into the oven for 1 hour.
- After 1 hour, uncover the wings. You’ll see that the wings produced a generous amount of broth. Flip each wing to the other side.

Make sure those wings are evenly coated before placing in the oven.
- Increase the oven temperature to 400 degrees, and continue to bake the wings, uncovered, for another 1 hour, or until most of the sauce has been absorbed by the wings.
- Resist the urge to grab a wing straight out of the pan. Let it cool for a few minutes so that you can enjoy without burning lips, tongue, and fingers.
- Serve the bbq wings to your guests as the main dish, or with some sides of your choosing. Or, plop yourself in front of the television or find a good book, and devour the wings all on your own. Happy Wing Night!
